This is an exciting opportunity for two people to join Olivia Blake’s team as either a London or Sheffield-based Personal Assistant, supporting her work as the MP for Sheffield Hallam.  The London-based role is 0.8 FTE (Monday-Thursday), and the Sheffield-based role is 0.15 FTE (Friday, with additional hours over the weekend).

The successful candidates will be highly motivated, reliable, and very well-organised, and will be sympathetic towards the values of the Labour Party. Ideally, they will be able to demonstrate previous experience of acting as a personal assistant in a busy office context, and have an interest in politics, keeping abreast of current affairs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Note/minute taking and sending recap emails, copying in other members of staff as appropriate
  • Diary management
  • Efficient data and file management to ensure the office complies with data protection legislation
  • Engage professionally, confidentially and with care and integrity with members of the public, through a variety of methods
  • Handling administrative arrangements for meetings with members of the public/MP surgeries
  • Photocopying, filing, record-keeping and typing correspondence
  • Respond to enquiries by telephone, e mail and social media, passing on queries to another team members/MP as appropriate
  • Setting reminders for meetings, appointments, and other important tasks
  • Supporting the MP with ad hoc matters

Skills and Experience

  • Excellent note and minute taking with a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent organisational skills and experience of managing a busy diary
  • Good communication skills and an ability to interact professionally with colleagues and constituents
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and behave with discretion
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment
