It was great to meet with the representatives from the Learning Disability Nurses Not Hearses campaign and hear from self-advocates and carers from Harrow Mencap. I am looking forward to supporting their vital work inside and outside of Parliament.

Public Health England found the death rate from Covid-19 for those with a learning disability was 30 times higher than the wider population in the 18-34 age group.

These horrific statistics are not a coincidence and they are not inevitable. They are a result of the 40% decline in the number of learning disability nurses we have seen since 2010. This has to change.
