😷 This week the Public Accounts Committee, of which I am a member, published a report into government provision of PPE during the pandemic.  It is vital the government learn from errors highlighted in the report, so no frontline worker is made to put their life on the line again. During the inquiry I questioned officials on the re-use of PPE and their level of engagement with frontline workers. You can watch the clip here

💉 The Public Accounts Committee also this week published a report into the supply and planning issues that have threatened the UK’s vaccine roll out. I spoke to local and national press about the report, and called on the government to learn the lessons for the next stage of the roll out.

🎉 As a further update on maternity services, partners are now welcome at 12 and 20 week baby scans at Jessop Wing. This is really welcome news. Thank you to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for listening to our concerns and helping make this happen. You can read more about the campaign here.

💷 This week my Labour colleagues and I have again called on the government to cancel the cut to Universal Credit, which will leave unemployment support at an all time low in the middle of an economic crisis. You can join the campaign here by telling the government to cancel to cut.

🏥  I am deeply concerned that new government imposed activity targets may lead to dentist practices closing their doors to NHS patients, depriving people in Hallam and across the country of vital dental care. I signed a letter to the Health Secretary, asking him to address this.

🍺I have tabled a Parliamentary Motion, to call on the government to rethink their damaging plan to cut Small Brewers Relief, and I am working with breweries in my constituency to hold the government to account over this. This week I spoke to Hallam FM and ITV Calendar about the campaign.

✉️  Along with other Sheffield MPs, I wrote to Matt Hancock to express our support for expanding Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust’s emergency department, and for the delivery of a world leading research facility for child health technology.

🐝 This week the Trade Bill once again returned to Parliament. I voted for amendments to ensure Parliamentary scrutiny of future deals, protect food, agricultural and environmental standards and support human rights in future trade deals.

🧑‍🍼I have also co-signed this amendment – so that all pregnant politicians, Minister or not, are guaranteed maternity leave and proper protections.

🌎 I met with BRAC UK – an international aid charity – to discuss how I can support their vital work in Parliament.

❤️  I celebrated #HeartUnions week this week. In what has been a difficult year, Unions have achieved so much, securing wins for workers across the country. If you are not already in a union, join one now here.
