Conservative cuts are starving schools of the funding they need to deliver a first-class education. Class sizes are increasing, schools are closing early to save money and some are asking parents for cash to buy basic supplies.
Olivia Blake said:
“People want investment in our public services after nine years of Tory austerity and cuts – all of which were supported by the Lib Dems.
“It is not right that schools are pleading with parents for money just to be able to buy basic equipment.
“Cut a million pounds from a school’s budget – which has happened right here in Hallam – and children’s education suffers.”
Labour will end the cuts and ensure schools have the resources they need, reduce class sizes for 5, 6 and 7 year olds, and ensure consistent standards of teaching across all schools.
