We’ve gone back in time and it’s not right that cash-strapped schools are having to ask parents to pay for paper, books and pens and that children are being crammed into super-sized classrooms.

The Tories are failing to invest in our children’s futures here in Sheffield Hallam. They have slashed school budgets, overseen a crisis in teacher numbers and not delivered enough school places.

Olivia said: “I am campaigning to fight cuts to schools. In Sheffield current plans mean 85 percent of schools will have to deal with funding cuts by 2020. Those cuts represent a total loss of £7.8m from our city’s schools, or £118 per pupil.

“A Labour government will give schools the funding they need, drive up teaching standards, get class sizes down and ensure all schools are accountable locally to parents, teachers and the local education authority.”
