"Many people in Hallam work in sectors hit hard by Tory/Lib Dem austerity. People in Sheffield Hallam deserve a strong MP with the skills and experience to fight for them"

In 2010, horrified by the Tory / Lib Dem Coalition, I got more involved with the Labour party, attending anti-cuts demos and campaigning against rising tuition fees. I was opposed to austerity from day one.  I chaired the University of Sheffield’s Living Wage campaign and working with my union secured the Foundation Living Wage for the lowest-paid workers.

I was elected as a councillor in Walkley in 2014 where I live with my husband and our dog. I work for the NHS in Hallam, following on from studying biomedical science at university in Sheffield. From starting out as an activist, I have learned so much about public office – from helping constituents to developing council policies that make a real difference to people’s lives.

I know Sheffield Hallam hasn’t traditionally been a Labour constituency. But times have changed. Many people across Hallam work in sectors that have been hit hard by Tory/Lib Dem austerity, while others are ripped off by private landlords, private rail companies, and casual employment contracts.

I believe that people in Sheffield Hallam deserve a public servant who has the skills and experience to fight for them. I believe they deserve a Labour representative, because they share our Labour values.

I have the passion, ability and credibility to deliver, and the understanding of what it means to serve our city. I hope I can gain your support, because with you, we can achieve amazing things.
